Product Overview

MSP is a proven, water-based paint that resists flaking or peeling because of its outstanding flexibility. It will go over most other paints and varnishes including weathered Tar Varnish, Bitumen and Creosote.

How to use it

Painting woodwork and metal

Gloss, satin and eggshell on doors, skirting, radiators and metal, done properly.

Step by step

Clean the surface with sugar soap or a degreaser and let it dry.
Sand existing gloss lightly so the new paint grips, then wipe off the dust.
Fill dents in wood, let it dry and sand smooth.
Prime bare wood or metal, and use an undercoat if the colour is changing a lot.
Apply thin coats with a good brush, following the grain on wood.
Leave each coat to dry fully and sand lightly between coats for a smooth finish.

Tips

Thin coats dry harder and run less than one thick coat.
Paint panelled doors in order: panels, middle rails, then outer edges.
Water-based paints yellow less on white woodwork.

Safety

Solvent-based paints give off fumes, so keep windows open.
Only paint radiators when they are switched off and cold.
