Choosing hinges
Match the size of the hinges you are replacing so they fit the existing recesses. Most internal doors are hung on two hinges; heavier doors and fire doors need three, and fire doors need hinges rated for fire door use. Screws are not included unless shown on the pack.
Fitting
- Mark the hinge position on the door edge, usually about 150mm from the top and 225mm from the bottom.
- Chisel a recess to the depth of the hinge leaf so it sits flush.
- Drill pilot holes and fix with screws that fit the countersunk holes.
- Hang the door and check it swings freely before fitting all the screws.
