A five piece Stanley FatMax thru tang wood chisel set in 6, 10, 15, 20 and 25mm widths, made in Sheffield, England for intensive use. The blades are EN31 chrome alloy, ball bearing grade steel for good edge retention, with a lacquer finish against corrosion. The thru tang runs through the handle to a steel strike cap, so the chisels can be driven with a steel hammer, and Stanley say the handle is 50% stronger than their old DynaGrip Pro in a side impact test. Each has an ergonomic soft grip handle and a full length blade guard.

Using it

Clamp the work and mark out first. Pare by hand for fine cuts and use a hammer or mallet on the strike cap for chopping, keeping the bevel facing the waste side.

Care

Keep the blade guards on when not in use, hone the edges regularly and wipe the blades dry after use.

Safety

Always cut away from your body and keep both hands behind the cutting edge.
